The SonarPen 2 is an upgraded version of an inexpensive iPad stylus that connects to the iPad using audio signals instead of Bluetooth. Introduced in 2018, the pen is now back with new features like improved nib and pen angle detection.
According to Tekna Technology Media Technology News Service, unlike the previous version that used a headphone jack, SonarPen 2 connects to the iPad through the USB-C or Lightning port. This feature allows you to draw thicker or thinner lines by changing the angle of the pen. The tip of the pen is similar to the Apple Pencil and is replaceable. By applying more pressure, the lines become thicker.
This pen has a customizable shortcut button that will be used for quick access to various functions. Also, the palm print prevents unwanted registration of lines.
Of course, this pen also has limitations. Some applications may not fully support the functionality of SonarPen 2. This pen is only compatible with iPad models that have a pressure-sensitive touch screen. The SonarPen 2 is currently available for pre-order through the Kickstarter campaign. Its initial price is around $32 and is expected to reach around $45 after the official launch. With these features and a reasonable price, the SonarPen 2 could be an attractive alternative to the Apple Pencil, especially for people looking for a stylus pen with a reasonable price and acceptable performance.
