Chery conducted a head-to-head crash test of the Tigo 9 in the presence of the media. In the following, do not miss the spectacular result of the safety test of the Chinese crossover Tiggo 9.
During Cheri’s multi-day tour, we saw interesting programs; From showing the Chery pickup to the test drive of Axlantics ES. On the sidelines of this tour, this Chinese car manufacturer also conducted a Tigo 9 crash test in the presence of media. The Gadget News team also attended Chery’s exclusive site in Wuhu city and prepared a report on the test of this Chinese flagship crossover.
Chery Tigo 9 crash test
In this crash test, two Tigo 9 vehicles, one gasoline-burning and the other plug-in hybrid, collided head-on at a speed of 50 km/h. As a result of this collision, fortunately, the effect of the impact did not reach the first pillar or the A pillar, and at least at this level, the passengers of the car were not harmed.
Battery safety is very important in electrified cars such as plug-in hybrid models; Because the risk of fire or any serious injury is not low in them. However, the Tigo 9 was successful in this field as well, and despite the horn-to-horn collision, the battery pack of the plug-in hybrid version of the Chery SUV remained intact; This means there was not even a trace of smoke or early signs of physical damage to the battery.
Chery’s flagship crossover airbags deployed with proper detection to protect passengers. Specifically, the passenger side airbag, the driver’s steering wheel airbag, and the side airbags all activated. Chery has used an airbag between the two front seats called central/middle airbag, which opened in this accident test. Despite this, the non-opening of the side airbags of one of the cars was questionable. The investigation of Gadget News shows that the side airbags did not open because the sensors of this SUV estimated the possibility of overturning or the so-called left side of the car as zero.
Thanks to these airbags, as well as Chery’s measures in the construction of the Tigo 9 body, the dummies did not experience significant damage in the sensitive parts of the head, neck and chest in this test.
In addition to the Tigo 9 crash test, a test was conducted to measure the resistance level of this car’s structure using a drill. In this test, despite the high pressure of the drill for a long time, there was still no hole in the door column. This test showed the strength of the material used in the chassis and the structure of the Tigo 9.
Tiggo 9 safety features and equipment
In addition to the strong body, safety and driver assistance facilities and equipment are also added to Chery’s flagship crossover to increase the level of passenger safety. The car comes with a wide range of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS for short), which include Lane Keeping Assist, Pedestrian and Cyclist Detection, Automatic Emergency Braking and Park Assist to name a few. 10 airbags including front, side, curtain and knee airbags have been implemented in the interior.
