Amazon on Wednesday unveiled its first color e-reader, the Kindle Colorsoft. This device comes to the market after years of efforts to develop color readers while retaining the benefits of long battery life.
According to Tekna Technology media technology news service, unlike previous models that used electronic ink (eInk) technology, Colorsoft uses LED technology to display colors. This technology provides users with a more colorful reading experience. Although the Colorsoft’s battery life is shorter than the Paperwhite models, at an estimated eight weeks, it still performs well. The price of this new electronic reader is set at $280, which is an average price compared to the competitors in the market.
In addition to Colorsoft, Amazon has introduced two other new products. The new Kindle Paperwhite, this model offers a better reading experience with a larger 7-inch screen and improved performance. Kindle Scribe, this e-reader allows users to take notes and convert their notes into readable text using a stylus. Also, this device uses artificial intelligence to summarize notes.
The Covid-19 pandemic has increased the demand for e-readers as many people look for an alternative to printed books. Amazon, as the largest player in this market, used this opportunity to expand its share. By introducing these new products, Amazon shows that it continues to innovate in the e-reader market. Color readers with note-taking capabilities show Amazon’s effort to attract new users and provide an experience beyond simply reading books.
