Recently, an image of a smartphone in a protective cover surfaced on Weibo, which users initially believed to be the Huawei Mate 70.
According to Techna Technology Media’s mobile news service, the whistleblower, Digital Chat Station, now claims that the phone in question is actually the Nubia Z70 Ultra and provides his reasons based on its design elements. He pointed to a bright red button and another button that is similar to the iPhone 16 series record button, which he called the “photo button”. This suggests that Nubia’s upcoming flagship may have a similar feature to the iPhone 16 series, possibly making the cameras more accessible.
Apart from the buttons, the phone also adopts a 1.5K display along with an under-display camera, making it the first phone to offer this combination. It should offer a richer display experience than the Nubia Z60 Ultra and most other flagships on the market right now. To improve the image quality of the under-screen camera, the company has apparently reduced the pixel density of the transparent area. The more pixels the small display panel in front of the lens has, the less light passes through it. Therefore, manufacturers must keep the pixel density very low to allow as much light as possible to pass through. However, the Nubia Z70 Ultra apparently offers improved image quality with its under-display selfie camera compared to the previous model.
It should be noted that this phone will be equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip, which is likely to be released next month. The phone is also expected to be released sometime this year. Last year, Nubia launched the Z60 Ultra around mid-December with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset and a 50MP+64MP+50MP rear camera setup. A notable aspect of the camera system was the 35mm focal length for the main camera, which is quite unique for smartphones. To see the latest news, refer to Tekna media technology news page.
