After the charges brought against Paul Dorf by the Paris Prosecutor’s Office, the South Korean police have come to Telegram to deal with the crimes of this messenger.
Pavel Dorf was arrested on various charges by the French prosecutor’s office and went to prison to deal with the crimes he allegedly committed. Of course, a few days later, he was released on a bail of 5 million euros, but he is still involved in some scandals and we have to wait for his trials.
South Korean police came to Telegram
The arrest of the founder of Telegram and the initiation of an official investigation against him by the Paris court was not enough, but now there are news that the South Korean police department has started investigating Telegram. A senior police official in South Korea has announced that a series of investigations have recently begun on the Telegram messenger due to crimes related to sexual deepfakes.
The police of this country have decided to measure the effective role of Telegram in spreading sexual deepfake content and determine whether this popular messenger was an accomplice of criminals or not! At the same time as the police investigation has started, the South Korean authorities have requested Telegram and other social networks to fight against such content.
South Korea decided to investigate Telegram since some sources claimed that images and videos are found on Telegram that are closely related to the sexual deepfakes of women in this country. Despite the request of the authorities of this country, Telegram has not yet made an official statement, but in the past weeks they have been fighting against the publication of harmful content for users. Telegram’s statement reads:
Our moderators use a combination of active monitoring of public parts of the platform, advanced AI tools, and user reports to remove millions of harmful content daily.
Challenges of Telegram in recent weeks
As we said, the last month has been a bad day for Telegram and its founder. At first, Pavel Dorf was arrested at the Paris airport with a petition of various charges and went to prison. It was said that 20 years of imprisonment awaits the owner of Telegram, but he was finally released with a bail of 5 million euros to deal with his charges.
Dorf’s second bad luck is the disappearance of Yulia Vavilova, who accompanied him on his travels and, according to some sources, exposed the founder of Telegram and is now hidden from view. Dorf’s third misfortune was his ex-wife’s complaint and labeling him a child abuser, whose case is still open.
Now, South Korea has come to Telegram to dig into it and find new proofs of sexual deepfakes of Korean women. Currently, the European Union is investigating whether the Telegram messenger lied about the number of users to escape the digital services law or not!
