Elon Musk, the owner of X (former Twitter), announced the launch of the XMail email service. XMail is going to challenge Google's Gmail.
Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has had many ambitious goals for Twitter since he acquired it after many setbacks; The beginning of this ambition was the renaming of the platform that had established itself with the same name for more than 10 years. It seems that X, or the former Twitter, intends to compete with Gmail in a new phase, and in this regard, a service called “XMail” will be launched as a subset of X in the near future.
Launch of XMail service to compete with Gmail
According to the latest technology news, Elon Musk recently confirmed the launch of the XMail service in response to a tweet by Nate McGrady, a member of the X engineering and security team. McGrady asked on Twitter, “When are we building Xmail?” And shortly after, Elon Musk announced in response that “it's on its way”.
By launching the mentioned service, X competes with Gmail, Google's ubiquitous email service. At the same time, Elon Musk has announced the start of the XMail service in the near future, and recently there were whispers about the end of Gmail. A manipulated image was circulated on social networks, including X, which showed that Gmail will be unavailable until next summer. Despite this, Google announced through the official Gmail account on X that the service will continue to operate.
Elon Musk even claimed some time ago that he will soon give up his personal phone number to use only X for calls. This move shows that the prolific entrepreneur is trying to give more legitimacy to his platform, which is not going through the best days right now.
Earlier in a report, it was revealed that Elon Musk is thinking about the idea of Supra X; More precisely, he wanted to make X into “one single program” that encompasses “everything.” Musk actually envisioned competing with well-known platforms in various fields, including LinkedIn, YouTube, FaceTime, and even the banking system. Apparently, the X-mail service is also an action in the same direction.
