Microsoft announced Thursday that it’s previewing a new artificial intelligence system called Copilot Tasks that takes care of your tedious and time-consuming tasks in the background. Using its own browser and cloud-based computer, this feature removes the processing load from your device and can manage various tasks such as scheduling appointments or creating study plans while you are busy with other work.
As Microsoft points out, you can use natural language to explain what you want to Copilot Tasks and delegate tasks to it on a recurring, scheduled, or one-time basis. After completing its task, this artificial intelligence will provide you with a report of the work done.
What tasks can be assigned to Copilot Tasks?
You can ask Copilot Tasks to do things like organize subscriptions and cancel ones you don’t use, or even turn your inbox emails, attachments, and images into a slide show. Other uses of this artificial intelligence assistant include finding urgent emails and drafting their responses, planning zero to one hundred birthday parties, and tracking new apartment rental ads.

Copilot Tasks seems to be Microsoft’s answer to the Agentic AI capabilities that have been introduced in recent months; Including Claude Cowork, Agent Mode feature in ChatGPT, Computer feature in Perplexity and “auto-browse” feature of Google Chrome browser which works with Gemini artificial intelligence.
Microsoft says that Tasks will ask for your permission before performing “sensitive and important actions” such as making a payment or sending a message. Currently, Copilot Tasks is only available as a research preview to a “small group” of testers. You can visit the Microsoft website to join the waiting list for this tool.
