Crystal Dynamics Studio has announced the first new game in the Legacy of Kain series after more than two decades. This game is known as Legacy of Kain: Ascendance and is scheduled to be released on March 31, 2026 (April 11, 1405).
This game is different from the previous episodes in terms of genre and perspective, and is a classic 2D pixel platformer that includes four characters familiar to fans of the series, including Kain, two different versions of Raziel (his vampiric and human form as the leader of the Sarafan group) and Elaleth, a character who has only appeared in the series’ graphic novels. Players will spend almost equal time with all four characters during the game. Each stage is filled with environmental challenges and puzzles that seamlessly culminate in combat.
In addition to the classic pixel art style, the game has anime-style cutscenes, and some of its graphics are designed to evoke the 3D space of the PlayStation 1 era. The music of the game is composed by the creator of the accompanying album of the graphic novel Soul Reaver: The Dead Shall Rise. It has also been confirmed that the main voice actors of Kane, Raziel, Ariel and Moebius will once again play their roles in this work.
For fans who are eager to experience the world of Legacy of Kain before the release of this new game, the remaster of Legacy of Kain: Defiance has also recently become available, the deluxe version of which will include a demo of the canceled version of Legacy of Kain 6; The work that rumors say is called The Dark Prophecy.
Legacy of Kain: Ascendance will be released for PlayStation 8 and 9 generation consoles, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and PC. You can see the published trailer below.
