More than eleven years have passed since the release of Sims 4 and not only is there no news about the next issue of this series of games, but Electronic Arts has even clearly said that they do not intend to make Sims 5. Meanwhile, while The Sims 4 is still receiving new add-on packs and numerous updates, a new rumor has announced the continuation of Sims 4 support in the form of a remastered version.
Maxis game studio, the developer of the Sims game series, is working on another game called Project Rene instead of The Sims 5. This project is supposed to be a big hub for all the different versions and content of Sims; Like what Call of Duty has done with its launcher and hub and offers all its games in the form of a launcher.
Project Rene is said to include all current and future Sims content (including the current Sims 4), and one of these games is an upgraded and remastered version of The Sims 4.
In the unofficial report published, which comes from reliable and reliable sources in the Sims community, it is said that Electronic Arts has placed several different studios on this big project and even set close deadlines for them to realize Project Rene and more importantly, the reconstructed version of The Sims 4 as soon as possible.
This remastered version will be considered as another foundation for various contents of The Sims 4. It means the Sims 4 Base Game, which can be downloaded and played for free at the moment, but it does not have much content, and if you want to have a proper game, you must buy at least one or two add-on packages and large and small downloadable content for it.

The reconstructed version of The Sims 4 is supposed to have better lighting and modernize the graphics of the game in general; The issue that after ten years and while the next issue is not going to be released, seems like the right decision.
It is said that a new graphics engine has been designed for Project Rene, which includes better lighting capabilities, and they want to transfer some of these graphics upgrades to The Sims 4.
These improvements do not only include better graphics, and perhaps more important than more graphics quality, is the issue of the coming of the open world and the full map to The Sims 4. While The Sims 3 was basically an open world game where you could walk around the entire game without any loading screens, The Sims 4 went back to the classic mode of the series where each house (or park or library or whatever) is a separate location.

Electronic Arts even sent a survey to its players three or four weeks ago and asked “how important is it to you if your save file doesn’t work in a new version of a game”, which we have now realized is very likely referring to this new version of The Sims 4.
What’s different about The Sims 4 Remake is that it’s not free. It is said that Electronic Arts wants to sell this version as opposed to the regular Sims 4, and in order not to make its content seem empty, it will include the Seasons feature that is part of the Seasons add-on pack and the Memories feature that is provided in the Growing Together add-on pack by default in this new Sims 4.
We imagine that we will hear about these events officially from Electronic Arts and Maxis in early 2026.
