Gemina artificial intelligence was added to the Google Maps application

Users can now ask Geminay general questions while driving or walking on Google Maps. The system combines geographic data from Maps with local information about the community and surrounding area to provide answers about potential businesses or destinations.

For example, you can ask Gemina to suggest suitable restaurants along a certain route, and then request that it route you to one of those recommended restaurants. Users can also report hazards such as car accidents or get summaries of recent events, news or emails while en route. To activate Gemina in Maps, just say “Hey Google” or tap the Gemina icon in the upper right corner of the application.

Gemini can also do other things like add an event to your calendar. Google will use artificial intelligence to improve its voice guidance. In this way, instead of distance-based commands, recognizable visual signs such as gas stations, restaurants or landmarks are used.

Also, even if you are not navigating, Google Maps will now warn you about heavy traffic and notify you ahead of time of any disruptions in the road ahead. This feature is currently only available in the US.

In addition, you can tap on the camera icon in the Google Maps search bar and hold the phone in front of you to detect places such as restaurants, cafes, shops or famous landmarks in front of you, and then ask questions about them.
