Google today unveils Gemini for Home to manage smart home. The service is set to replace Google Assistant in Google’s smart home ecosystem.
According to the 9TO5Google, the capabilities and performance that Gemini for Home will offer to users will be much greater than Google’s voice assistant. Using the redesigned architecture of the Home app, the service adds a higher intelligence level to the cameras and will provide a redesigned version of the Home app for Android and iOS.
Get acquainted with Gemini for Home capabilities
Gemini for Home is optimized for shared environments and has a spatial understanding. In the sound section, there are 5 new audio options that have a more natural rhythm and tone. The service can now understand the basis of users’ requests and no longer need to describe a task.
For example, if you are upstairs and say, “Hey Google, I want to cook, can you turn on the lights?” Jamina realizes that you mean the kitchen lights on the bottom floor and illuminate them.
Other Jina’s capabilities include the ability to process several background requests, process sophisticated requests with exceptions, and to memorize conversations for subsequent conversations by this artificial intelligence service.
Also in the calendar section, reminders, lists, and timers have been made to execute commands such as “Remind a month before Halloween to order special clothing.” Or provides “a timer for baking a steak”.
You can also say, “Hey Google, let’s chat”, so you will be activated for you. Google says users can stop the conversation at any time, jump in the middle of the word, or ask other questions.
Smart Camera integration with smart cameras
Google says artificial intelligence cameras can understand what is happening in a scene by using a multi -point Jina. Artificial intelligence descriptions appear directly in the alerts and video history so that Jina has a better understanding of what really happens in your home. For example, in response to the question, “Is something ate my plants?”, Artificial Intelligence may tell you what day the rabbits have been seen in your garden.

Jamina is also able to review your videos history and directly to questions like “What time did my children come home?” Reply.
Recreased Google Home app
Google has also updated and redesigned its Google Home app to access these new features. In year 2, Google has offered about 2 improvements for the Home app, including increased startup speeds by up to 5 % and a 5 % decrease in crashes. Other structural upgrades include reducing battery consumption and improving memory.

This app now supports natural language processing. For example, you can say “nights, if the house was empty, change the settings as if someone is at home.” In this case, Google recommends using lights and TVs to simulate presence. This new app is being released globally for Android and iOS today.
Google also today unveiled its new generation of NEST products and its new smart speaker.
