The Chinese giant Huawei Technologies introduced the third version of its Pangu artificial intelligence model. This model uses Ascend processors designed by Huawei and a software environment called MindSpore. Huawei’s processor can perform the necessary model training tasks up to 10% faster than other popular GPUs currently used for similar purposes.
According to Hoshio, Huawei has been under severe sanctions from the United States and its foreign policy allies for several years. For this reason, this company has to pay more attention to the domestic market and prefers to use its own designed hardware as a basis for solutions for its corporate customers when developing artificial intelligence systems. In fact, Huawei is adapting its business strategy to deal with the challenges it has faced due to the sanctions.
At a conference for cloud solutions developers, Huawei introduced the third version of its Pangu artificial intelligence model. This model uses Ascend processors designed by Huawei and a software environment called MindSpore. The purpose of providing this solution is to serve corporate customers, which includes companies specializing in industries such as rail transportation or mining.
Meanwhile, according to representatives of the specialized Huawei Cloud division, the current computer infrastructure in China can no longer cope with the growing demand for specialized resources in this field. The existing system and technology are not enough to handle the ever-increasing needs of users who require specialized resources. Therefore, many local companies are forced to pay large fees for specialized NVIDIA accelerators and wait for months to receive them. In this situation, Huawei is trying to provide an alternative for these customers by using the processors it has designed. According to company officials, their Ascend CPU-based cluster can be up to 10 percent faster than a “core GPU” when it comes to training models using AI. However, Huawei employees did not disclose specific details of the comparison conditions or how they arrived at this figure, nor did they say exactly how they conducted the comparison test.
As Huawei Cloud management points out, Pangu’s language model is not used to write poetry, but focuses on meeting the needs of companies and organizations. Huawei’s mission is to penetrate the business environment and provide valuable technology for businesses. So far, Huawei’s artificial intelligence solutions have been implemented in more than a thousand projects in various industries, including eight coal mines.
Huawei is making significant strides in the field of artificial intelligence, focusing on providing valuable technological solutions for businesses. Huawei’s mission is to make a significant contribution to the success of their business environment by providing these solutions to businesses around the world.
