Tesla, who was developing “Dojo” to teach the automatic driving system learning models and advanced driver’s assistant, has now completed the project with the departure of the project chief and more than 5 key team members who have joined an active data center company. The rest of the team will be transferred to other Tesla data centers projects.
Tesla’s CEO Ilan Musk, who previously described Dojo as “monsters”, called it a “low -risk option” last year and said on Thursday: “Divorce of resources to develop two different artificial intelligence chip designs is not logical.” Accordingly, Tesla intends to rely on partners such as Nvidia, AMD and Samsung to produce artificial intelligence chips, though the development of the AI5 and AI6 internal chips will continue.
The DOJO closure occurs as competition over the recruitment of artificial intelligence professionals has intensified and technology giants have attracted Tesla forces on the proposal of remarkable salaries. At the same time, financial problems caused by sales drops, political margins and uncertain performance of automobile projects, including robot service in Austin Texas, have posed more challenges.
