Baidu’s Apollo Service is deploying 10 self-driving vehicles in a technology park developed by the Beijing Municipality, Mehr news agency reported.
Obtaining the aforementioned license is a step beyond the license received by the company in December 2022. At that time, Baidu announced that it had received permission to test a fully autonomous car.
This Chinese company now operates driverless robotic taxi services in 3 Chinese cities, including Wuhan and Changqing.
In these vehicles, there is no person or safety operator in the driver’s seat.
On the other hand, Pony.ai, which operates with the support of Toyota Motors, announced in a separate statement that it had received a similar license in Beijing. The company also manages a robotic taxi service in Guangzhou.
