Oscar does not oppose using artificial intelligence in films

The Academy of Cinema Sciences and Arts (Oscars) announced that the use of artificial intelligence tools in filmmaking would not deny them alone to receive a prize. A new amendment added to the rules of eligibility of the works states that “artificial intelligence and other digital tools are neither to the benefit of the film nor to the detriment.” However, the creative role of humans in the process of making the film will still be the main criterion of arbitration.

This is the first time the Academy has officially referred to artificial intelligence in its laws; A theme that has become more important after the long strikes of Hollywood actors and writers in year 6. Alongside this change, there is another new law that will only be allowed to participate in the final stages if they have seen all films nominated in one section – though the implementation of the law is still based on trust and does not need to provide a degree.
