China’s President Xi Jinping, at the beginning of his three -day trip to Southeast Asia from Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, called for a strengthening of trade and supply chain cooperation with the country to reduce the effects of US heavy tariffs. The trip, which comes with Beijing at 5 % US tariffs, is an opportunity to sign about 5 agreements in various fields between the two communist countries.
In an article published on Monday in the Vietnam Communist Party’s Nanandan newspaper, Shi praised the expansion of artificial intelligence and green economy. Vietnam, as a key industrial center in the region and a major exporter of electronics, shoes and clothing to the United States, is negotiating to reduce US proposed tariffs, which will be implemented in July if they disagree. Vietnam’s customs data shows that in the first quarter of this year, it imported about $ 5 billion from China and exported $ 1.5 billion to the United States, reflecting the trade interdependence of the three countries.

The journey, which will continue in Vietnam and then in Malaysia and Cambodia from April 1 to April 5, is highlighted by the development of infrastructure, especially the railway lines between China and Vietnam. The deputy prime minister of Vietnam, the smell of Tan Sun, announced that the two countries intend to sign agreements on defense, security and infrastructure, although the details of the financial obligations are still unclear. Vietnam also accepts Chinese loans to build new railways, which can boost bilateral trade.
However, China -Vietnam relations are challenged. The border tensions in the South China Sea and the recent Vietnam’s efforts to satisfy the United States, such as the establishment of the Ilan Musk Starlink Service and the commercial restrictions on some Chinese goods to comply with the rules of the product, may annoy Beijing. Meanwhile, China is seeking Vietnam’s consent to buy Comac aircraft, and on Sunday, Vitjet Airlines signed a memorandum of understanding with Comac, which may include two C909 aircraft for domestic flights.
