The Minister of Communications warned that Iran is lagging behind in the region’s competitors such as Saudi Arabia with a $ 5 million investment and $ 5 million in artificial intelligence.
Communications Minister Sayed Sattar Hashemi warned that regional countries such as Saudi Arabia ($ 2 billion) and the United Arab Emirates ($ 1.5 billion) have a better position at the signing of Iran’s Smart Governance Memorandum of Understanding, referring to Iran’s rank in the development of artificial intelligence.
He described the difference as a danger to the future of technology and knowledge economy in the country.
Referring to Iran’s less than $ 5 million investment in artificial intelligence, Hashemi emphasized that this figure is comparable to that of a small neighbor and reflects disregard for this strategic area.
He called for a targeted investment and a more serious look at artificial intelligence so that Iran would have something to say in future technological competitions.
