We know Openai more because of its artificial intelligence models, which were able to make the use of language and artificial intelligence models by providing GPT chat. However, the company does not intend to limit its aspirations only to the software field. Kaitlin Kalinowski, a member of the Open -AIA technical team and a former director of the AD Augmented glasses (AR) in Meta, posted a message in X and announced that the company was hiring the first robotics hardware roles. These situations include a system integrated electrical engineer that “helps us design a collection of robots sensors.” And a technical project manager (TPM) in the robotics team “responsible for directing the logistical affairs of the laboratory. “Of course, the hiring of these people involves the fact that contract employees have the facilities needed to collect data from the experiments.”
The recruitment ads also explain about this new effort of Openai:
“Our robotics team focuses on the creation of versatile robots and progress towards AGI level intelligence in dynamic and real environments. Working in all layers of the model, we integrate advanced hardware and software to investigate a wide range of robotics forms. “We are trying to combine the advanced capabilities of artificial intelligence with the physical limitations of the real world.”
Collinovsky announced a little more than two months ago that he had joined Openai to lead “robotics and consumables”.
Previously, there were reports that Openai had been working on hardware projects with former Apple’s senior designer Johnny Ioi. The company also collaborated with the Figure Robotics Startup to provide its own artificial intelligence models for the humanitarian robots of this startup.
The new post by Colinovsky and job advertisements reflects Openai’s most serious and largest investment to form its robotic sector to date, and it may eventually mean competition with Figure.
Of course, this is not a new position for OpenII, as the company is currently competing with Microsoft and is invested from the company.
