In recent years, artificial intelligence systems (AI) have surpassed human beings in areas such as mathematics, programming and medical diagnosis and are becoming more and more advanced every day. Artificial intelligence companies are expected to claim comprehensive artificial intelligence (AGI) in years 1 or 2; A system that is capable of performing almost all human cognitive tasks.
With the announcement of comprehensive artificial intelligence, there will probably be discussions about its definition and authenticity, but more importantly, the monopoly on human intelligence at the human level is being lost and we are moving to a world with powerful artificial intelligence systems.
In the next decade, powerful artificial intelligence can create trillion dollars of economic value and change the balance of political and military power in favor of the countries that control it. However, many people and institutions are not ready to deal with current artificial intelligence systems, and there is no realistic plan to manage the risks and exploit the benefits of these systems at the government level.
Interestingly, experts close to artificial intelligence technology are more concerned about its progress than others. For example, Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, said “systems that refer to comprehensive artificial intelligence are emerging.” Also, Demis Hasbis, CEO of Google Dipmaman, has predicted that comprehensive artificial intelligence will probably be achieved in the next three to five years.
With the improvement of artificial intelligence models, they are now able to perform more sophisticated tasks that were not before. For example, specialized models in the International Mathematical Olympiad have achieved superior results and general models are capable of solving complex problems.
Despite the various predictions about the timing of the emergence of comprehensive artificial intelligence, we need to prepare for it right now. This readiness involves modernizing energy infrastructure, strengthening cyber defense, accelerating the process of approved drugs designed by artificial intelligence, formulating regulations to prevent serious damage to artificial intelligence, and educating school literacy in schools.
