Google has once again taken a new step towards enhancing its search for artificial intelligence technology. The company announced yesterday that it is expanding the AI Overviews feature and provides more for more groups of users. Now, even people who have not logged into their account on Google can experience this feature and access the results produced by artificial intelligence.
But this is just part of Google’s apps. The technology giant plans to introduce a new feature called AI Mode to the search world. This tool, a smart chat focused on search, is set to merge directly into the Google search platform and transform users’ experience.
AI Mode is actually a response from Google to tools like Perplexity or ChatGpt Search. This feature is still in the test stage and only special users who have a Premium subscription can access it through the Labs section. By activating this feature, the search results are displayed in a smart, artificial intelligence -based manner, and users receive answers similar to chats such as Jama. These answers are based on the web data and Google search index and have suggested links with them.
The entry of this feature reflects Google’s special attention to the production of content with the help of artificial intelligence. There are, of course, challenges on this path. For example, weird responses such as “eating stones” or “adhesive pizza” were provided by the system, which has been criticized. However, Google is trying to improve accuracy by applying the advanced Jina 2 model in AI overviews; Especially on topics such as mathematics and programming that require accurate calculations.
Robbie Stein, Vice President of Google Search Products, believes that the AI Mode has affected users’ behavior and encouraged them to ask more complex questions. He has also responded to concerns about reducing website visits, stressing that users will continue to go to the links with better understanding of the subject and remain even longer on the sites. According to him, artificial intelligence is not going to replace the classic search, but it improves the way users interact with the platform.
