Apple’s artificial intelligence mistakenly changed the headline of one of the BBC’s news stories and informed users that the person suspected of murdering the CEO of UnitedHealthcare committed suicide.

Summarizing news and notifications is one of the features that Apple Intelligence’s artificial intelligence has added to iPhone devices, but this feature has caused controversies in a short period of time after its release. In the most recent case, this Apple Intelligence feature changed the headline of a BBC news story about Luigi Mangione, the man suspected of murdering the CEO of United Heltaker, to say that he had shot himself, when no such thing had happened.

Apple’s AI apparently has trouble summarizing notifications

In response to this issue, one of the BBC spokesmen said that he contacted Apple to raise the media’s concerns about this headline and to ask for a solution to the problem. Of course, the BBC did not announce the headline and news content that Apple’s artificial intelligence changed.

Also, only the first part of Apple Intelligence’s notification about Luigi Mangione’s suicide attempt is false, and the rest of the news summarized in this notification are true.

Illusion in artificial intelligence models and creating false news is one of the problems that developers are trying to solve. Even in some cases, artificial intelligence makes false statements by quoting some people and creates margins.

It seems that the developers of artificial intelligence tools need to increase the understanding of this technology from human conversations.
