Google is gearing up to release its next AI model, Gemina 2.0, which is likely to be released in December. Now one of the users to a new model with the name Gemini-2.0-Pro-Exp-0111 found available and raises the possibility that we may see the release of this powerful model sooner than expected.
According to the TestingCatalog post on X, a new model Gemini-2.0-Pro-Exp-0111 has been added for this user in the menu where you can choose which model the Gemini chatbot should use. In the screenshot below, you can see this new model:
TestingCatalog says the model responds “very quickly” to requests, but it’s hard to tell if it’s actually a Gemina 2.0 Pro. If you visit the Gemina chatbot now, only the free option of the Gemina 1.5 Flash model is available.
The time of public release of Gemina 2.0 Google
The new Gemini-2.0-Pro-Exp-0111 model is available in the Gemini Advanced section, indicating that you will most likely need a paid subscription to use it. Of course, Google may also release a free version called Gemini 2.0 Flash that can replace Gemini 1.5 Flash.
Google and OpenAI both apparently want to release the next versions of their flagship AI models by the end of 2024. According to previous reports, the two companies are likely to release Gemini 2.0 and Orion models in December.
These 2 companies have fierce competition and usually release their models with a short interval; For example, OpenAI unveiled the GPT-4 model just a day before Google announced Gemini 1.5 Pro. Google’s Gemini 1.5 Pro now has a context window with one million tokens, which allows it to process and understand massive amounts of information. It is rumored that the next model of OpenAI, i.e. o1, has more advanced capabilities.
