AI Overviews, Google’s search engine, is now available in more than 100 countries. The summary of search results, which is provided by artificial intelligence, is available for users of Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Colombia, Chile, Philippines, Nigeria and many other countries, but the name of Iran is not among them.
According to Google’s official website, AI Overviews in each country are now available in different languages, including English, Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Portuguese, and Spanish; This means that if you are in the US, you can search in Spanish and see the result in the same language.
Earlier this month, ads were enabled in AI Overviews for mobile, but only in the US. For other regions, Google says, “Ads will appear in dedicated slots across the page, rather than appearing directly in the AI Overview.”
Google launched AI Overviews in the U.S. in May before rolling out more broadly in the U.K., India, Japan, Indonesia, Mexico, and Brazil. The company also began displaying web page citations more prominently in AI Overviews after a months-long trial.
Google’s AI Overview problems in the early release
The AI Overviews feature was added to the Google search engine a few months ago and was intended to provide users with smarter and more accurate results. Of course, Google was not very successful in achieving this goal and faced a lot of criticism; For example, in some searches, users were suggested to put glue on their pizza or eat rocks. The display of wrong answers caused a wave of criticism and raised many concerns about the lack of trust in Google’s results.
Of course, it seems that despite many criticisms, this company does not intend to restore the previous state of its search display and continue to provide the AI Overview feature.
