Google’s new music production tool

For nearly a decade, Google developers have been exploring how artificial intelligence (AI) can be as creative as humans and building tools that empower hobbyists and professionals to explore new forms of creative expression.

Over the past year, Google has been collaborating with partners across the music industry through the Music AI Incubator and other tools; These artists’ work and data will drive Google’s new generative music model, helping Google ensure that the tech giant’s AI generative tools open the door to music creation for everyone.

Today, Google, in partnership with Google Labs, is releasing MusicFX DJ, an experience that makes it easier for anyone to produce music interactively and in real-time.

Google is also releasing updates to its music AI toolbox, the Music AI Sandbox, and bringing its latest music AI technologies to YouTube’s Dream Track, a suite of tools that creators can use to produce their own high-quality videos.

At this year’s I/O conference, Google shared an early preview of MusicFX DJ, a digital tool that anyone can play like an instrument, making the joy of creating live music more accessible to people of all skill levels.

Today, Google announced a number of updates to MusicFX DJ, including an expanded set of intuitive controls, a new user interface, and improved audio quality; These features allow users to create and direct music in a continuous stream, share their creations with friends, and organize meetings with each other.

“Jacob Collier”, singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist and winner of six Grammy Awards, has collaborated with Google for these changes. Unlike traditional DJ tools that combine existing tracks, MusicFX DJ creates entirely new music by allowing users to combine musical concepts as text messages.

With MusicFX DJ, users can mix their favorite genres, instruments and moods to create new styles, improvise or search for new melodies, sounds and rhythms to use in the final product.

While MusicFX DJ is not a traditional music instrument, it is an accessible and expressive entry point for creating new music.
