OpenAI has recently beenCanvas» unveiled a new interface for ChatGPT designed to foster collaboration on writing and coding projects. The Canvas interface is displayed in a separate window next to the chat history section with ChatGPT, and is similar to the Artifacts feature in Entropic’s Claude AI assistant. Now there are reports about the new feature of ChatGPT, which says that Canvas can convert codes from this programming language to another language with a simple click.
According to ArasTechnica, the new Canvas feature uses a special version of GPT-4o that is still in public testing and can be manually selected. Also, when ChatGPT detects that Canvas can be useful, it will automatically run it, of course, it can also be used with the “use canvas” command.
Simplify coding with ChatGPT
The Canvas interface includes a new menu of various shortcuts for performing common tasks such as finalizing a document, suggesting edits, and adding emoji. Its coding shortcuts include reviewing code, adding reports for debugging, adding comments, fixing bugs, and porting code to other programming languages.
For example, if your code is written in JavaScript, you can convert it to Python, TypeScript, Java or C++ with a few simple clicks.
Users can also highlight specific parts of the project for ChatGPT to focus on. Then, while considering the entire project, the artificial intelligence assistant makes its suggestions and opinions about that part as well.
OpenAI will provide Canvas functionality for ChatGPT Plus and Team users starting Thursday, and Enterprise and Education users will have access to it starting this week. The company also plans to make Canvas available to all users after it exits the beta stage. Canvas is the first major update to ChatGPT’s visual interface since its launch 2 years ago, the company explained on its blog.
