Meta A new video generation artificial intelligence model named Movie Gen which can produce high definition videos with sound. Although this model is not yet available to the general public, Movie Gen competes with OpenAI’s Sora artificial intelligence, which can convert text to video.
Movie Gen can generate new videos based on user-supplied text, as well as edit existing videos or still images. Also, the sound of the videos is produced by artificial intelligence and is synchronized with the ambient noise, sound effects and background music. In addition, videos can be produced in various aspect ratios.
Video production with new meta artificial intelligence
Meta says that in addition to generating new videos, Movie Gen can also create custom videos from images or change different elements in a video. One example Meta shared on its website shows a video of a woman sitting next to some pumpkins and drinking a drink. This video is produced from a photo of a woman’s head.
Another part of the meta post claims that Movie Gen was trained with “a combination of licensed and publicly available datasets,” but the data was not specified.
As we mentioned, Movie Gen can also be used to edit existing videos and change the style or add different elements to them. In the example produced by Meta for this feature, we see a runner whose image is altered by artificial intelligence in various ways. For example, in one frame he is holding some kind of tassel in his hand and in another frame, the background of the image is changed to desert.
Chris Cox, Meta’s product manager at Threads, writes that the company “isn’t ready to release its model as a product anytime soon” because it costs so much and it takes so long to produce video.
