Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Tab S10 and Galaxy S24 FE on Friday and, as expected, also hinted at Galaxy AI capabilities. The Korean company once again announced that some of its AI capabilities may be monetized in 2025.
According to SamMobile, Samsung’s press releases for the Galaxy Tab S10 and Galaxy S24 FE series include footnotes about the future of Galaxy AI. “Fees may apply for some AI capabilities by the end of 2025,” Samsung says. This message is similar to the messages Samsung released in January, after the Galaxy S24 series was announced, and in July, a few days before the Galaxy Z6 series was unveiled.
Galaxy AI capabilities in 2025
So far, Samsung has not specified which of the Galaxy AI features may be paid next year. Earlier this year, the head of Samsung Health said the company was considering building a subscription service for the Health app, but that hasn’t happened yet.
Notably, Samsung used the term “AI” instead of “Galaxy AI” whenever it mentioned pricing for these features in its press releases. Most of Galaxy’s AI tools rely on Google technologies; So Google may want to monetize its AI tools, and Samsung is following suit.
Of course, Samsung has been looking for ways to make money through paid services and subscriptions for some time; For example, there is already a paid service on your Galaxy phone and tablet called “Secure Wi-Fi” that costs $0.99 for 24 hours or $1.99 per month.
It can be said that Samsung is no stranger to the concept of paid subscriptions. Whether it’s Samsung, Google, or both, some AI capabilities that are free now, or even ones that haven’t been unveiled yet, may become paid for by 2025.
