France, at the same time as political changes and trying to become the world leader in the field of artificial intelligence, is the first Minister of Artificial Intelligence (AI) introduced itself. Clara Chapaz, the CEO of the state-owned startup La French Tech, has been appointed to this position.
According to a Euronews report, Chapaz posted on LinkedIn and said:
“I am delighted to be able to continue my commitment to public action on the core issues of digital intelligence and artificial intelligence.”
Chapaz, 35, will present his reports to the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research. He has had an impressive career while managing La French Tech, and in his three-year tenure, he established the Voluntary Equity Pact, which has been signed by more than 700 startups so far.
This agreement requires companies to have at least 20% of women on their boards by 2025 and forces all managers to be trained in various issues and combating discrimination and harassment.
Prior to her appointment at La French Tech, she was the commercial director of the luxury second-hand clothing website Vestiaire Collective and launched the second-hand children’s clothing marketplace Lullaby. Additionally, Chapaz is a graduate of Harvard Business School.
France’s effort to become the center of artificial intelligence

Since 2022, when American startup OpenAI unveiled ChatGPT, France has also released competing AI models such as Mistral AI and H. The appointment of Chapaz as the country’s minister of artificial intelligence once again highlights the ambitions of President Emmanuel Macron to turn Paris into an “artificial intelligence city”.
France will also host the International Artificial Intelligence Summit next February. 2 previous meetings were held in Britain and Seoul.
