Bill Gates says in a new interview that technology experts don’t have all the answers they need about the impact of artificial intelligence on businesses and social activities in the future. However, he thinks it’s important that we all start working with AI tools now.
In his interview with CNET, Gates talked about the future world, artificial intelligence, disinformation and climate change. He says:
“Being able to work well with AI and benefit from it is now more important than understanding Excel or the Internet.”

In another part of this interview, Gates talked about the future of humans and businesses with artificial intelligence. He says that AI can help with the shortage of teachers, doctors and mental health professionals, but he believes that humans should be considered as well, and that there may need to be limits to how the technology can be used.
The Microsoft co-founder goes on to say that these conversations will continue over the next 10 to 20 years, as the nature of work with AI continues to evolve.
He advises everyone to use “AI as a tool.” Bill Gates says in this regard:
“Whether you’re an illustrator, or a coder, or a support person, or even someone working in healthcare systems, being able to work well with and use AI is more important than understanding Excel or the Internet.”
Gates goes on to say that there is no one-size-fits-all solution to dealing with misinformation. Ideally, he says, there will be “systems and behaviours” to help us identify content creators, and most countries are now trying to find appropriate boundaries to deal with disinformation.

Finally, the former CEO of Microsoft says about climate change that new innovations are needed for industries such as steel and cement production, and his investment company called Breakthrough Energy finances these projects.
He also mentioned areas such as “food products” that have low carbon emissions, but also pointed out the importance of raising awareness about them.
Bill Gates’ interview is part of the documentary What’s Next? The Future with Bill Gates will be shown on Netflix on September 18.
