An improved version of Alexa that Amazon is likely to release this year will take advantage of Claude Entropic’s artificial intelligence model. Early versions of the smart and paid voice assistant Alexa, which used Amazon’s proprietary artificial intelligence, had problems responding to users’ requests and choosing words. Apparently, this is why Amazon decided to use Entropic’s proprietary artificial intelligence.
According to Reuters, the development of the new version of Alexa, called “Remarkable Alexa”, has apparently been accompanied by problems. “Mikhail Eric”, the former Alexa AI machine learning scientist, also said on X social network that this department has technical and bureaucratic problems. At the same time, Amazon’s voice assistant faces strong competitors such as GPT chat, Gemina and even the new version of Apple’s Siri; Therefore, in making the new version of the voice assistant Alexa, Amazon has decided to use artificial intelligence Claude of Entropic company.
The new Alexa, which is based on Claude, apparently outperforms Amazon’s in-house AI model. One of Amazon’s personnel says about this:
“We use different technologies to power Alexa. When it comes to machine learning models, we started with Amazon’s production models, but we have used and will continue to use other models; Including (Amazon’s artificial intelligence model) Titan and future models of Amazon and we are also getting help from partners to create the best experience for customers.
Release time and possible price of the new version of Alexa
With a delayed release, the Remarkable Alexa will apparently hit the market in mid-October (late October 1403). Expected features include daily news digests, a chatbot for kids, and conversational tools for shopping on the Amazon storefront. Apparently, Amazon plans to offer the new Alexa with a $5-$10 monthly subscription, but will keep the current version of Alexa, or Alexa Classic, available as a free service.
A preview of the new Alexa will also be announced at Amazon’s annual Devices and Services event.
Currently, UK regulators are investigating Amazon’s minority stake in Entropic. The company invested $4 billion in the startup last year, promising Amazon customers early access to the company’s AI technology.
