OpenAI announced last night that free ChatGPT users can now access many features that were only available to paid service users. Among these features, we can mention custom GPTs, chart analysis, asking questions about images and other features.
Previously, features such as data analysis, chart creation, file upload, and custom GPTs were only available to users who paid for ChatGPT’s paid subscription. But now all users can use them. Of course, in the case of custom GPTs, although free users can use them, they are not able to create their desired GPT. There is a lot of variety among these GPTs and thousands of users have developed attractive and functional GPTs for different needs. Creators of custom GPTs can also participate in a revenue sharing scheme that OpenAI started last March.
Access to data analysis and charting allows users to connect OneDrive and Google Drive data to ChatGPT for faster analysis and creation of custom charts. However, paid subscribers still have another advantage: lower message limits. When free users reach their message or conversation limit using GPT-4o, they are automatically reverted to GPT-3.5.
One feature that users can’t use regardless of their subscription level is the controversial Sky Voice. OpenAI has removed the voice, which was very similar to Scarlett Johansson’s voice in the movie Her, but other voices are still available on ChatGPT.
