“Bill Gates” has always been one of the enthusiasts of artificial intelligence and has thought about it even before the widespread emergence of this technology in the past years. However, the co-founder of Microsoft said in a new interview that artificial intelligence is not magic in solving problems that humans are not good at.
Artificial intelligence has so far proven that it can be very useful in several fields, including pharmaceuticals and agriculture; Gates and his foundation also focus on these several areas. But despite all these capabilities and successes of artificial intelligence that we have seen since last year, there are also many reports about the limitations of this technology.
Bill Gates on artificial intelligence
Gates recently discussed some of these limitations in an interview with Dax Shepherd on the Armchair Expert podcast. He says:
“If there's a problem that humans can't solve, existing techniques don't provide a new approach.”
In other words, according to Bill Gates, current artificial intelligence models, despite their many capabilities, are not magical. They are just super fast at doing things that humans do more slowly.
He continues:
“I think artificial intelligence can play a role in mental counseling, but we have to be very careful about it. “Its development requires a lot of work that has not been done yet.”

Another area where Gates believes that current AI models stumble is solving complex mathematical problems.
However, Gates says that he is always optimistic about artificial intelligence and that these limitations are not a reason to abandon the technology. Also, while he gives people and nations the right to oppose artificial intelligence in necessary circumstances, he does not foresee a future in which the people of the world agree to stop the development of this technology.
