Tik Tok announced today that its data center in Ireland is finally up and running and is now moving the data of its European users to the center. This action was taken after Tik Tok was banned by the European Union in March. According to the TechCrunch website, Tik Tok started the construction of the mentioned data center in 2020 and it was supposed to be operational in 2022.
With the related issues resolved, Tik Tok can now transfer its users’ information to its database in Ireland by the end of the fourth quarter of 2024. Meanwhile, this company has two other databases under construction in Ireland and Norway. Tik Tok has been under intense surveillance for the past few years and now it is trying to gain the trust of the authorities of different countries.
ByteDance, TikTok’s parent company, confirmed in 2022 that several of its employees had access to the information of some US users, including journalists. This fact was revealed while the US government also banned its employees from using this application.
In addition to announcing the transfer of user information to European servers, Tik Tok also announced today that it has also acquired NCC Group. This information guarantee company located in England ensures the security of users’ information and publishes a report in this regard. According to Tik Tok, the company monitors the incoming and outgoing data of the Ireland data center to prevent unauthorized persons from accessing confidential user information.
