Netflix’s famous red envelopes may soon be gone, but before then, the company apparently has something important to do. Netflix has long focused on streaming rather than mailing DVDs. However, the company’s CEO Ted Sarandos recently said that Netflix will ship its last DVD package to subscribers on September 29.
In this regard, Netflix has announced that mail subscribers of this company will have the chance to receive one to 10 additional DVDs. Of course, only Netflix DVD subscribers will be able to get it. Netflix said this is a limited offer and interested subscribers must register by August 29 at dvd.netflix.com/FinaleSurprise. These DVDs are going to be released one month later, on September 29.
As you know, Netflix was founded in 1997 and started by selling and renting DVDs by mail. In the past 25 years, Netflix has shipped more than 5.2 billion DVDs and served 40 million people. The company launched its streaming service in 2007 and renamed its DVD-by-mail service to DVD.com in 2016.
