Tesla CEO Elon Musk recently announced during the release of Tesla’s second quarter earnings report that owners of the company’s electric vehicles can transfer ownership of their self-driving beta (FSD) to others. This event can have a significant impact on the use of Tesla’s advanced technology in the near future.
According to this decision, the current owners of Tesla cars can transfer their self-driving beta to other Tesla cars in the third quarter of this year, i.e. until the end of September. The goal is to encourage Tesla owners to upgrade to the company’s latest models without having to repurchase the $15,000 self-driving beta.
Of course, the transfer of Tesla’s self-driving beta has terms and conditions, and owners must have the ability to fully drive Tesla cars. The plan will also only be applicable to those new Tesla vehicles delivered between July 20 and September 30, 2023.
It should be noted that this transfer can only be done once and cannot be transferred to another vehicle or person, even through a private sale. Elon Musk also said that for the development of the self-driving car industry, he will provide the full-autonomous technology of Tesla cars to other car companies.
In the second quarter of this year, Tesla continued to dominate the electric car market in the United States and recorded a domestic sales record of 466,140 cars with an annual growth of 87%. Also, this company’s Model Y car managed to become the world’s best-selling electric car by passing popular electric cars such as the Toyota Corolla.
Some time ago, Tesla removed the charging port design of its cars from the exclusive mode so that big companies such as Mercedes, Volvo, Rivian, Ford and General Motors can also use this special design in their electric cars. Also, the number of Tesla car charging stations has reached 48,000 all over the world this year, which shows a one-third increase compared to the previous year. It is expected that the successful performance of this company will continue in the next year.
