A 15-year-old first-generation Apple iPhone has sold at an auction for $190,372.80, the highest price ever paid for a first-generation iPhone. The previous record was $63,356.40.
This happened in the LGC auction that was held between June 30 and July 16. The auction was for a first-generation iPhone with 4GB of internal storage, although most users preferred the 8GB model. Meanwhile, the iPhone 14 Pro Max offers up to 1 TB of internal memory.
The description of the auction states: “We are dealing with a very rare and mint condition 4GB version of the first generation iPhone that is almost flawless. This phone is brand new and has never been activated.”
The iPhone was first introduced in 2007 and has dominated the mobile market ever since. Although the specifications of this iPhone are not very significant compared to the best smartphones that will be released in 2023, but its historical value is undeniable. We will probably see these first generation iPhones selling for $200,000 in the future.
