A Sukhoi-30 multirole fighter belonging to the Russian Air Force crashed in the Prionzhsky region of the Republic of Karelia during a training flight. According to the reports of the Russian state media, citing the Ministry of Defense of this country, both crew members of this plane lost their lives in the accident. This event happened in the northwestern region and near the Finnish border, and rescue forces were sent to the crash site.
According to official sources, no civilian casualties were reported in this incident. This accident is the latest in a series of non-combat air damages inside Russia. In July, a Su-34 fighter-bomber crashed in the Nizhny Novgorod region under similar conditions.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has reported that Russia has lost 428 aircraft since the beginning of its full-scale invasion. Independent OSINT analysts have estimated that up to 15 Sukhoi-30SM aircraft may have been among the casualties.
