The Prime Minister Albania announced that his new cabinet will include a minister of artificial intelligence whose task is to manage public financing projects and to combat corruption in government bidding. Albanian Prime Minister Eddie Rama said Dila, who in the Albanian language meant “Sun”, would be a member of his cabinet that has no physical presence, but is virtually made through artificial intelligence.
According to Rama, Dila will guarantee that government bidding will be held 2% of corruption -free. Dila was launched earlier this year as a virtual assistant on the E-Albania public service platform. This virtual assistant, while helping users to use the E-Albania website, is also wearing traditional Albanian local clothing.
The Socialist Party, led by Rama, succeeded in coming to power for the fourth consecutive period and winning the majority by winning two of the five seats. The party can form a government alone and adopt most of the laws, but it will need two -thirds to change the constitution, ie two seats.
Socialists have promised to join the EU in the next five years and complete the negotiations by year 2. However, this commitment has faced the opposition’s doubt. The Democrats believe that Albania is still far from ready to join the EU.
The Coalition of the Conservative Democratic Party led by the former Prime Minister and the former president, Sally Breisha, won four seats. The party refused to accept the official results of the election and claims electoral violations, but its representatives attended the opening session of the new parliament. The remaining seats were also divided among the other two small parties.
Legal experts believe that more may be needed to determine Dila’s official position as a cabinet member. Corruption has remained one of the main problems in the country since the fall of the Communist rule in year 6.
On Friday, the new Albanian representatives swore in parliament and the new Speaker of Parliament and Nawab will be elected. Eddie Rama’s cabinet will also be introduced in the Majlis.
