As the curtains dropped out and unveiled the latest automakers’ products at the recent Munich Motor Show, Mercedes -Benz Design Director quickly criticized its competitors. In an interview with Top Gorge, Mercedes -Benz’s chief design manager Gordon Wagner was asked to share his views on other German carmakers, BMW and Audi and their new products at the Auto Show. Follow along with Digino.
However, instead of politely rejecting competitors’ products, Wagner attacked the BMW IX3 and Audi Concept C, and described their interior design as confusing and fashionable. While Mercedes -Benz unveiled its mid -range electric chassis, GLC with EQ technology, BMW competed with the first model of the new generation Neue Klasse, the IX3. One of the highlights of the new Mercedes -Benz car is its interior design, which lacks a regular number of kilometers and uses an IDRIVE panoramic 3.5 -inch screen that covers almost the entire dashboard under the windshield.
Wagner said they showed the concept design with information at the bottom of the windshield for the past few years. Of course, he is not a serious fan of the plan and finds it difficult to see it. In this case, everything looks small and distracts users. You will need a device to work with it because it is a lot of distance with you and it is difficult to touch it. Therefore, a touch screen should be used where competitors did.

The Mercedes -Benz design manager concluded his views on the BMW IX3 interior with the fact that they think this design is advanced and they probably loved it, otherwise they would not go for it, but I am not satisfied with such a plan. Wagner was equally about the Audi Concept Coupé and its minimalist use of touch screen or screen surface. He told Top Gorge that the interior seems to have been designed in year 6. Such an appearance is a little known and has very little technology.

“I am a fierce fan of analogue things, but you can’t ignore the screen. When you have a small screen, you will feel that you are sitting in a small car. It is worth noting that the GLC with EQ technology was displayed by Mercedes -Benz with the BMW IX3 and Audi. Therefore, the company’s design manager’s comments may not be surprising.
