Meta announced today that it will no longer sell ads or monetize the Trades platform in 2023.
Threads was introduced for the first time yesterday and allows users to publish posts of up to 500 words, up to ten photos and videos of less than five minutes.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said of Tradeds: “Our goal is to bring the best parts of Instagram to this platform and create a new experience for publishing text, ideas and what’s on the minds of users.”
Twitter under the management of Elon Musk has recently created restrictions for users, which has caused them dissatisfaction. Now Trades has entered the field as a competitor to Twitter, and a Meta spokesperson confirmed that the company will focus solely on improving the platform this year and will not sell ads on it.
This seems like a wise move on Meta’s part, and we’ll have to see how Trades competes with Twitter in the future.
