Shiro Nakamura, one of Nissan’s veteran designers, will unveil a new compact electric car called the Sport 01 next week at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
From 1999 to 2017, Nakamura oversaw the design of several cars at Nissan, including the Cube, Qashqai, Leaf and GT-R, but now he heads the independent company SN Design Platform. The company’s sports car 01, which is made for the Japanese company AIM, uses two powerful electric motors with a speed of 10,000 rpm, each of which is placed on the rear wheels of the car. These engines get their power from the car’s 81 kWh battery and provide 483 horsepower. According to this statistic, it is expected that Sport 01 needs less than 6 seconds to accelerate to 100 km.
The body design of Sport 01 is also made of light materials such as carbon fiber and aluminum, which helps it move better in sharp turns. According to Nakamura, the design of this car was inspired by Japanese and European sports cars of the 60s. Currently, AIM is going to launch a limited number of this car.
