Secure Folder is a protected section on Samsung Galaxy. Programs, data, and content transferred to this folder are not accessible without authentication. It is also protected by Samsung Knox encryption to provide users with more comfort.
One UI 8 release has just been released, indicating that Samsung plans to release the Beta One UI 8 in early June. The initial preview of the One UI 8 shows that Samsung intends to improve some features in its next main update. New information suggests that the company is also strengthening the security of the safe folder.
Transfer of Samsung Secure Folder to API Private Android
Safe folder uses Android work profile; It is a separate managed profile that allows users to keep programs and work data separately from personal apps and data on the same device. Earlier this year, Samsung took care of a security defect; At that time, it was revealed that the Android photo selection tool (used in social networking apps to select photo) displayed photos outside the secure folder.
If the work profile was enabled on the device, the photo selection tool could display the content inside it. This vulnerability was only available in the One UI 7 and was not seen in previous versions. Also, the media could only be displayed if they were not encrypted. However, this was a doorway to a safe environment that should not have happened.
It is now clear that the One UI 8 will make a fundamental change in the secure folder and will use the Android private space API instead of a work profile. Private Space is a separate part of the Android system where applications and data can be stored as locked from the original file system. The photo selection tool does not have access to any of the files in this private space because it is locked.
Transferring a secure folder from work profile to private space will greatly increase its security. Samsung has not yet provided details about the launch time of the One UI 8, but reports show that the Beta One UI 8 may start next month and its public release will be launched after the introduction of new folding phones in July.
