While there is still a month left until Samsung’s Unpacked event and the introduction of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 phones, new information about the Galaxy Z Flip 5 has been released today.
Last year, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 was introduced with a small 1.9-inch cover display that users could not do much with this cover display. But apparently, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will be equipped with a larger 3.4-inch cover display with a resolution of 748 x 720 pixels, which will allow applications to run.
According to today’s information, the cover display of Galaxy Z Flip 5 will not only be a screen for displaying notifications and widgets, but will also support the Google Maps application.
It is not yet clear how much the Google Maps application will be usable on the cover display of the Galaxy Z Flip 5, but our guess is that you will be able to rotate and see the navigation details on the cover display of this phone. Recently, the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra was able to run the full version of this application on its cover display. Of course, the implementation of this application on the Razer phone had problems that Samsung must solve if it wants to run Google Maps on the Cover Z Flip 5 screen.
It is expected that other Google applications can also be run on the cover display of the Galaxy Z Flip 5. These applications include YouTube and Gmail. In addition to Google applications, Samsung will probably provide compatibility with One UI applications for the Cover Z Flip 5 display. Of course, we don’t expect this display to be as advanced as the Galaxy Z Fold 5’s second display, but it’s still a significant upgrade over the Galaxy Z Flip 4.
In addition to the display, Galaxy Z Flip 5 will also have upgrades in the internal department, and we have to see what Samsung has in mind for the phone.
