Mercedes continues to produce a smaller version of Class G

The Glass G has a unique place among the Mercedes -Benz Benz collection. This raises the question: Why has Mercedes not yet used the fame of this chassis to launch new models? So far, special models such as Maybach G650 Landal, 4.3 Squared and 4.3 have been introduced, but none have left as a fixed member of the production line. Now, a smaller and probably more affordable version of this popular chassis is being formed.

This new version will be part of what Mercedes calls its “biggest product introduction campaign”. In a recently released press statement, the German brand announced that “Class G family will be expanded with a smaller version.” In the new teaser, the letter “G” (in lowercase) is completely hidden in the lower part of the Glass Grumate.

This is not the first time talking about a smaller version. On September 1, Mercedes at the IAA Munich Expo introduced a design of what the company’s CEO had called “Little G”. At the event, Mercedes’s chief executive described it as “the Great Girl or Girl”. The initial teaser, in the form of a cubic SUV, did not disclose any details.

Mercedes is still silent about the smaller G-Class model, though it was introduced more than a year and a half ago. One of the most important things that is still ambiguous to us is not only design, but how much the small version G will be complete in terms of hardware similar to Geländwagen. Does this model use the body platform on the frame or will the body be integrated? However, the car must have the real Aphrodite features to match the Class G reputation.

Two years ago, the German newspaper HandelSblatt announced in its report that the small Class G would be technically related to the next generation of CLA that will be unveiled soon. If this is true, the G model will no longer have a staircase body that will definitely be disappointing for traditional fans. If the model is related to the small Mercedes sedan, it will probably be a completely electric version, and a mild hybrid engine may be added to a new four -cylinder gasoline engine.

It should be noted that Mercedes are doing more important projects, so the G model is likely to have a little delay. In addition to the new version of CLA, redesigned compact cars will include new models for CLA Shooting Brake, GLA/EQA and GLB/EQB. In the higher category, the electric versions of the C-Class, E-Class and GLC will also be available. In year 2, the Class S will be updated with a “large around, and AMG will introduce two new electric cars designed and manufactured inside the company.
