Samsung was unaware of the popularity of satellite connection at the unveiling event of the Galaxy S25 series, while introducing a variety of advanced features of these phones. Despite the powerful Snapdragon processor support for the technology, Samsung has decided to hand over it to mobile operators.
According to reports, the chip used in the Galaxy S25 series supports Snapdragon Satellite technology, which allows the satellite to communicate directly. But the failure of Samsung’s direct contract with satellite Internet services providers has led users access to this feature depending on the collaboration of mobile operators. Currently, only Verizon operator subscribers are capable of using satellite connection on their Galaxy S25 series phones.
While Apple has been able to call and send satellite emergency messages for iPhone and pixel users, Apple has allowed mobile operators to implement a variety of strategies in the field, in collaborating with Globalstar and Google with Skylo.
This decision brings Samsung’s benefits such as greater flexibility for operators and the variety of services provided to users. But on the other hand, dependence on operators can lead to the greater complexity of the activation process and the use of these services.
