Most of the big companies in the camera market have been silent about the sudden growth of image generators, such as Midjourney, but today Nikon asked users to record the images they want with real cameras instead of using the aforementioned technologies.
Nikon’s Pro website today published images of several real-world locations with words similar to the text commands needed by artificial intelligence generators to create the images. This campaign by Nikon has been started to deal with the recent increase in the use of these generators, although the images produced by artificial intelligence still lack many of the characteristics of real images.
Nikon is the third largest company in the camera market after Sony and Canon, and therefore it is not surprising that it has made such a request to users. The company stated that artificial intelligence generators, especially in low-resource areas, have resulted in the unemployment of many photographers. However, it can be said that the mentioned technology also has advantages and, for example, it has helped users who are unable to travel to other countries or cities to record their desired images.
In general, it can be said that artificial intelligence and cameras are not direct competitors of each other, and in fact, this technology has helped their progress by improving the ability to process images and auto focus cameras. Therefore, we will probably see the use of this technology in the world of photography in the future.
