Speaking to Wired, Apple CEO Tim Cook emphasized that his company sees AI not as a marketable service, but as a foundation for future innovation.
Meanwhile, in the past months, Apple has added a wave of artificial intelligence-based features to its products by introducing two major updates of iOS 18.1 and 18.2.
Despite widespread speculation about Apple offering paid AI services, Cook made it clear that such a plan was never on the company’s agenda. Asked about Apple’s approach to AI-based business models, which is seen in some of the company’s competitors, he explained: “We have never talked about charging for AI capabilities.”
According to Tim Cook’s statement, it can be concluded that Apple intends to use artificial intelligence as a tool to improve the user experience and create innovative products, without necessarily seeking to make money directly from this technology. This approach could represent a paradigm shift in the tech industry, where some companies are emphasizing the added value that technology brings to users instead of just focusing on making money.
