The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has recently warned iPhone and Android smartphone users about the serious risks of direct SMS exchange with each other in an official announcement.
This security body, in order to protect the privacy of users and to deal with the ever-increasing cyber threats, seriously recommends that encrypted messengers be used for confidential communication.
Studies and reviews conducted by the FBI show that the traditional method of exchanging text messages between different operating systems exposes messages to a serious risk of being intercepted and manipulated by hackers due to the existence of security vulnerabilities.
This issue is especially important in the current situation where we see a significant increase in cyber attacks and the attempts of cyber criminals to infiltrate users’ personal information.
In this regard, the US Cyber Security and Infrastructure Agency (CISA) has also emphasized the importance of protecting users’ information, and has seriously asked citizens to turn to messengers equipped with advanced encryption technology instead of using traditional text messages.
With strong encryption of voice calls and text messages, these messengers create a strong security layer against cyber attacks and prevent the disclosure of personal information of users.
