Vahid Kazemi, one of the Iranian experts working in the OpenAI company, in a controversial comment on the X social network, announced the company’s acquisition of general artificial intelligence (AGI).
Referring to the new language model o1, he believes that this model not only has the ability to perform a wide range of tasks, but in many cases it shows a performance beyond that of humans.
In his definition of AGI, Kazemi emphasizes the superiority of this system in performing all tasks compared to humans. However, he admits that the o1 model, although it performs better than most humans in most tasks, is not necessarily superior to experts in that domain in every specialized task. According to him, the breadth of capabilities and the ability to quickly learn the o1 model has made it a strong competitor for human intelligence.
Kazemi’s statement comes while Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, recently mentioned in an interview that AGI is close to being achieved. These claims have sparked a wave of controversy in the scientific and technological community and intensified speculation about the future of artificial intelligence.
