Samsung has announced that production problems will force the company to cancel the Exynos 2600 flagship chip.
Samsung is planning to cancel the production of its new Exynos 2600 chip due to serious problems in the production department. This chip was supposed to use Samsung’s advanced 2nm foundry technology, but due to the efficiency rate of these chips being only 10-20%, their mass production is practically not profitable.
The cancellation of the Exynos 2600 chip comes at a time when the company recently faced low performance issues with the Exynos 2500. For this reason, it is likely that Samsung will hand over the production of its flagship chips to the Taiwanese company TSMC, which, of course, will increase costs and possibly increase the price of chips.
In addition, Samsung will shut down several production lines that work on the old 4nm, 5nm and 7nm technologies and will rebuild its processor development team. Although many efforts have been made to improve the 2nm process, the future of Exynos chips remains unclear.
